I read this recent SemDem diary and my reaction was clean and pure: anger. Click the link at your own risk. It’s bad: “Whatever happened to Reconstruction”-level bad.
Dartagnan usually provides me with the comic perspective required when monitoring the actions of these sociopaths, but this morning Dartagnan got all serious on me and my anger kept building. I knew the Klown Kaucus had staged some kind of stupid “hearing” but, as usual, the reality was worse than I imagined. (This is what has scared me most all along: as many have noted before me, the reality is always worse than I imagined, usually much worse.) Then I remembered my overreaction to the conditions of the Anti-christ’s (h/t Christian Nationalism) probation, so I took a few deep breaths and went to a happier place. (Too soon? trigger warning, the world’s dirtiest joke)
We need the information in Dartagnan’s diary. They mention that the Klavern did this under the radar of the Anti-christ’s indictment, and so they staged their little drama to an empty room, and it was “broadcast” on a network no one watches (put your hands down nerds; we don’t count). They stepped on their d*c*s again, and we have it on tape. I nominate Stephen Colbert to narrate, though he’ll probably defer to his peer. I allow that Jon Stewart would be fine. :-)
Look, Joe’s got this. I’ve gone from Apocalypse Now to Joe versus the Volcano (subtle, with anti-christ call back. Want to hear my Gilbert Gottfried impression? trigger warning, juggalo humor) Another happy place: Norm McDonald). There shall be no mocking of my favorite Tom Hanks movie! It’s another happy place of mine, especially whenever Abe Vigoda is on the screen. It gave Meg Ryan the part she was born to play. Case closed.
N.B. “The Aristocrats” and “The Moth Joke” are comedic traditions of long standing. I have concluded, based on Ukraine’s success, that you go to war led by comedians. Jon, I’m lookin’ at you to head the Truth Commission on the Demise of the Republican Party since we ignored Smedley Butler. (Funny name… Stewart? Ask Sandler if he’s really Jewish.)
