More Russian stuff burning, plus U.S. to supply Ukraine with depleted uranium tank rounds [1]

The Biden Administration has agreed to provide depleted uranium rounds for the Abrams tanks being given to Ukraine. The rounds are particularly deadly against enemy armor, so they are best used in armor vs. armor battle. But they are also controversial because there are long-term health concerns — especially from the fine uranium dust that results when the rounds hit targets.
Ukraine already has been pledged depleted uranium rounds from the UK for its Challenger tanks.
These won’t be available until the Abrams are — and even then it’s just in armor-on-armor situations so it’s not a game changer, but it’s definitely a military step in the right direction, aside from the environmental concerns.
x The US is expected to provide Ukraine with depleted-uranium rounds following weeks of internal debate, The Wall Street Journal writes.
