An informal survey in Carson City, NV [1]

This morning I wanted to thank Jack Smith so I made a sign and my dog and I went downtown in Carson City in front of the Legislative Building. I was there about an hour and a half on Carson City’s main street and during that time a few people walked by and several hundred cars drove by.

Survey results: Most people drove by without responding and maybe 5-10% honked, waved, gave me big smiles or a thumbs up. Only three cars were definite negatives: One thumbs down; one throat-slashing movement with the hand; and one “Eat sh*t co**sucker and die!” screamed at me. The drivers in two cars gave me big hands-in-the-air signals indicating they had no idea what I was talking about. Three of the four people who walked by didn’t know who Jack Smith was so I told them he was the guy who indicted Trump for espionage.

Interpretation: Most people ignored me, which is typical for this type of survey. I figure many of those people had no idea who Jack Smith is and ignored me because of that. Others knew who Jack Smith is and ignored me because that is what they do. Others knew who Jack Smith is, hated my guts, but decided to not respond.

I figure most of the people who responded positively dislike Trump and support Biden. Carson City was about 40% blue in 2020. Nonetheless, there is the possibility that some of them support DeSantis or Haley or Pence and are happy with Jack Smity. Can’t rule that out.

Conclusion: This survey could have been better designed, but I had fun.
