When the west coast is on fire from LA to Juneau and 50 some million people live there it gets massive coverage, and it should. But after that smoke clears the Sierras and the Cascades where 8 million people and 25 million livestock animals are living with less than a mile of visibility while they choke on particles from a Harley or a family heirloom or living room furniture, etc? Passing mentions.

50-70 million people on the east coast choking on that sweet, sweet pure pine smoke from Canada where even fewer people live? They’re on it, the doctors are lining up to give advice and landmarks are dimly shown through the smoke, after a brief aerial view of one fire.

In other news, I’m loving the coverage of the Trump indictments. (volume warning)

In local weather, we get some rain but not near the gulley washers that other parts of the state are getting. There’s this weird thing that happens where once you’re west and north of Missoula, storms start to diminish in strength. All the snowpack has melted so the lake should get to full pool but they’re talking about a sag in the level in a couple of months if we don’t keep getting sufficient precip. I don’t think I’ve ever heard of that happening. I’ll have to ask around about that one.
