O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay! - A diary of thanksgiving, and update on my world. [1]

I’d almost decided not to publish this tonight because there is SO much good news, I figured it would just get buried — and then I thought, why not? Why not celebrate two great things at once? So what the heck, here I go!
At the end of March I was absolutely panicked. The SSA still hadn’t made a determination on my disability, and I had liquidated everything I could to keep myself afloat. Then Vetwife stepped in and posted a fundraiser for me, and the DK community responded amazingly! I did post a thank you diary the next day, but seemed to me like it was time for an update :-)
So, update 1: DONALD TRUMP HAS RECEIVED HIS FIRST FEDERAL INDICTMENT!! YAY!!!! And I will refer you to the many diaries on that subject, including Mark Sumners’, for more details :-)
Update 2: As many of you forewarned, the SSA did reject my original application. We are now in the process of appealing that decision. Among other things, in the process of trying to sort out my medical issues, I have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia on top of the Hashimoto’s, and in addition we just discovered in the past few weeks that I have extensive arthritis in my spine and neck. (Which explains to some extent why standing for significant periods gets very painful) But anyway!
On top of the application rejection, the transmission in my Suburban decided to give out. (Yay, not.) But here is the coolest thing of all, and why I absolutely needed to write this diary:

Despite the original turn-down and my Suburban dying, I didn’t freak out. I wasn’t reduced to panicked sobbing. Completely and 100% thanks to you guys, I was okay :-)
I was able to sell the Suburban for $1600 to a guy who had the skills to fix it, and for that plus another $1000, I was able to buy the fabulous little red Prius pictured above! Plus, we are now into the appeal part of the disability process and so long as I am very frugal with your generous donations, I am fine financially for June and July, and hopefully even August if I’m really, really careful!
I have been taking advantage of the breathing space you all have given me and have been working very hard to regain some strength and take off some of the massive weight I gained between March of 2020 (Covid) and when I finally got a diagnosis and treatment for Hashimoto’s (July 2021). It’s slow work, but since the fundraiser I have managed to lose 11 pounds — with 80 more to go, ugh! But little by little…
So this is a HUGE thank you and hello from me, Seeya, Wheezer, Cocoa, and the new little red Prius, on a night when we have a TON to celebrate! O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!
