Ukraine: Did Russia accidentally wipe out its northern flank on the Dnipro?? [1]

Has anybody noticed that nobody seems to be talking about what happens to the reservoir above the dam?? Now think this through...blowing a dam doesn't only flood the areas downstream, it also drains the reservoir upstream. An amphibious assault across the reservoir would have required vast numbers of cargo boats/ships to haul all of Ukraine's tanks, troop transports, artillery, etc. That would have taken a massive fleet of ships and days to accomplish (under fire from the Russians).
Again think this through...with the reservoir drained, it will create 150 miles of river that allows rapid crossings anywhere with a few pontoon boats within minutes. Furthermore, it essentially moves Russian fortifications back miles from the previous coastline, making it easier to facilitate a beachhead on the Russian side of the Dnieper.
Russia has significant fortifications opposite Kherson for exactly that reason, but the coastline along the reservoir was far less defended because it wasn't a viable crossing, now it will be (once it dries out a bit).
M3 Amphibious Rig
Am I missing something here?? Or did Russia accidentally wipe out its northern flank on the Dnipro?
