Today’s newspaper reported a discouraging fact
What can we do, how should we react?
The news from ornithologists is worse than was feared…
in a few decades three billion birds are gone… disappeared!
Loss of habitat, fewer plants and fewer bugs they can eat…
the changing climate that’s worldwide and raising the heat
Are you missing some birds…miss them flying nearby?
Miss watching them soar up above in the sky?
The decline in their numbers signals one more alert
that the earth has been damaged…our environment’s been hurt.
We’ve collectively done our earth some serious harm
And the bird population decline is one more troubling alarm.
