Watching "Charlie Wilson's War" tonight (no story here, just a few very short thoughts) [1]

I’m watching “Charlie Wilson’s War” tonight as I try and shake this cold and wait for the Ukraine offensive to start up. It’s a movie, so don’t take it for truth. But the general line is accurate enough.

Different countries, different terrain, but the stories of Ukraine and Afghanistan in the 80s do have echos. I’ve no great thoughts here put all together. Just every scene makes me think of Ukraine going through their own version of this.

Mostly I’m just hoping someone is taking good notes because I really want to know the behind the scene stories of the Ukraine war.

It’s also bizarre with the politics of Charlie Wilson. Note, the movie portrays the sexism of the time so be prepared for that.

If anyone wants to toss their thoughts in on the movie and parallels to Ukraine please do.
