Senate passes debt ceiling legislation 63-36 [1]

‘Tis done. The debt ceiling bill was passed by the Senate 63-36 and will become law as soon as President Biden signs it.

Will post more details of the final vote by party and the drama in the Senate today as I find it.

Apparently, 30 Rs voted against the bill.

11 amendments were offered and voted down.

Democrats that voted Nay — Fetterman (D-PA), Markey (D-MA), Merkley (D-OR), Sanders (I-VT) and Warren (D-MA). These are symbolic protest votes, to make the point that republicans screwed the American public with their hostage-taking tactics.

So, we dodge a bullet, thanks to the hard work and the smart job by the President and Democratic lawmakers, much to the shame of the hostage-taking party. Let’s make sure the electorate understands what just happened and why the republican party cannot be trusted to lead this country.
