Photo Diary: El Paso TX Museum of History [1]

Not a very big museum, but has some interesting exhibits.

Some photos from a visit:

For those who don't know, I live in a converted campervan and travel around the country, posting photo diaries of places that I visit.

Inside the museum

A Native woven basket, perhaps Apache

A door from the 18th century Ysleta Spanish Mission

A medal awarded for the 1916 Punitive Expedition against Pancho Villa

WW2 artifacts from Fort Bliss

One section of the museum highlights local African-American history:

The Green Book. A travel guide for African-Americans, listing all the motels, restaurants and attractions they could visit in the segregated south.

Wheaties box from 1966, when the Texas Western Miners mens basketball team won the NCAA championship. The starting lineup was all African-American.
