Initial Thoughts on Moscow Drone Attack – May 30, 2023 [1]
['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.']

May began with a drone attack on the Kremlin. May is ending with a drone attack on Moscow. What is going on ?
The Kremlin attack was staged and photoshopped, as far as this author could tell. See www.dailykos.com/...
Is today’s attack staged as well ? It certainly isn’t photoshopped.
What do we know so far ?
1. Russia is reporting that there were 8 drones involved. But, “Russian media close to the security services wrote that the number was … more than 30 drones.” www.theguardian.com/...
2. Russia says that all 8 drones were either shot down or disabled. There are no reports on the other 22 drones, so far. There is a video of one of the drones that crashed, that is shown above. There is a video of a drone that presumably was hit by a missile. There are no other pictures or videos of downed drones, or the shooting down of drones.
3. There are videos of two reputed drone strikes on tall apartment buildings. One showed an isolated broken widow. The other showed a hole in the top facade of a building with some blown out windows below and black areas around the hole.
4. There were no significant explosions like we see from the Russian drone attacks on Kyiv.
5. Russia can’t seem to get their facts straight. It’s hard to reconcile pictures of two reputed drone strikes with their statement that all the drones were shot down or disabled.
6. Russia says that the damage from the drone attacks were minor. There were no injuries.
7. The drones attacked in broad daylight. Some of the drones were quite noisy.
8. The areas struck were in a wealthy residential area.
9. Russia hasn’t blamed the US – yet.
What is the evidence for a staged attack, and for a real attack ?
There are at least 4 reasons for a staged attack.
A. The attack was meant to be seen by wealthy Russians. It occurred in daylight, using noisy drones, and in a wealthy residential area. Most drone attacks are at night and meant to be surreptitious.
B. There were no significant explosions, no one was killed or injured, and the damage was minimal.
C. Some, if not all, the drones had to be launched from within the Moscow region in order to avoid being shot down prior to reaching the city. This is especially true for the noisy drones. Launching 8 to 30 drones in the Moscow region in daylight without being caught is very risky to suicidal.
D. Ukraine has been hitting military targets with their drones – not residential areas. Russia has been hitting residential areas.
The evidence for a real attack is Russia’s statements that they were attacked by Ukraine. But, maybe I missed something.
This story is likely to continue developing as Russia releases more information, and we learn more about these attacks.
