New Coke: the 30th Anniversary of Coca-Cola's Biggest Mistake

bad punchline to the joke of Elon Musk — is exactly the wrong way to spotlight the danger that is Ron D. As humorous DeSantis consistently makes himself out to be, treating him as just anotherto the joke of Elon Musk — is exactly the wrong way to spotlight the danger that is Ron D.

Ron DeSantis says he would consider presidential pardons for Jan. 6 rioters by Rose Horowitch, — May 26, 2023 by www.nbcnews.com — May 26, 2023

DeSantis has consistently polled second to Trump in national surveys and has sought to draw a contrast with the former president while being reluctant to attack him outright. In an appearance on "The Clay Travis & Buck Sexton Show," a conservative talk radio show, DeSantis said that on "Day One" of his presidency he would have his staff examine cases of Jan. 6 rioters, pro-life demonstrators and parents arrested over their actions at school board meetings, and would be "aggressive" in issuing pardons. " We will use the pardon power — and I will do that at the front end," DeSantis said, claiming that the Justice Department and the FBI had been "weaponized" to unevenly punish people from "disfavored groups."

[...]

Not to be outdone by double-down Don, Ronnie is quick to equate the 1-6 insurrectionists to the protestors of the LEO-murder of George Floyd. This “Anti-woke crusader” would even pardon the Donald if needed. That is one helluva fig-leaf to win over the Trump loyalists. Funny thing is, it just might work … Ron DeSantis’ openness to pardoning Jan. 6 defendants is a dark sign The Florida governor is already projecting an authoritarian vision of the law. Zeeshan Aleem , — May 26, 2023 by www.msnbc.com — May 26, 2023

[...] DeSantis’ broadside against the idea of rule of law signals that overturning the rulings of the legal system isn’t just a consideration, but an expectation: “We will be aggressive in issuing pardons.” It’s also notable that pardoning Jan. 6 defendants is a “day one” priority for him, suggesting that the convictions of insurrectionists who tried to overturn the 2020 election was a grave injustice . And he refuses to rule out the idea of pardoning Trump, regardless of whether prosecutors are able to indict him with a crime. DeSantis’ posture rests upon the unfounded assumption that federal prosecutors are part of a political conspiracy rather than agents of the law. And naturally he tossed in his obsession with so-called wokeness into his reasoning. “Some of these cases, some people may have a technical violation of the law. But if there are three other people who did the same thing, but just in a context like Black Lives Matter, and they don’t get prosecuted at all, that is uneven application of justice ,” DeSantis said, referring to Black Lives Matter protests in 2020. “And so we’re going to find ways where that did not happen and then we will use the pardon power, and I will do that at the front end.”

Hot Buttons, Ron D. knows them, and he know how to push them.

Paint that Dems as the enemy — and promise the “even application of justice” — on “Day One.”

Trump without the foot-in-mouth syndrome.

Trump without the Federalities on your doorstep, at every turn.

Trump without a truckload of worn-out baggage in tow. A new fresh hell for Media punditry to play-up and ponder, as “the solution to all the GOP problems.”

Some wear their crimes as a Badge of Honor — but they don’t usually run for Office, to get a Pardon.

— —

Ronnie D. (D is for Dion): just what the GOP Doctors/ Mega Donors ordered — a Harvard/Yale graduate with his own ”faux-morality” high horse, to ride in on and rescue the Party of Trump from their ongoing dismal prospects.

As pitiful Ronnie DeSantis ambitions and power plays may seem to be — to progressives — DeSantis will find a way to spin it, so that independents — and center-right media — eats it up like popcorn.

Like some new GOP Hope, to reclaim what they see as rightfully theirs. Without all the whiny Trump schtick. Ron’s got his own demento schtick to entertain them with, that few in the general audience have really caught onto yet.

Just what the Horse-race pundits ordered — cruelty and authoritarian policies — all dressed up as “family decency” … And they’re off!

It’s gonna be a helluva race.

Funny, I always thought it should be about “the Issues” …

Those were the days, eh?
