1) I recently went back through all of the diaries that I’ve published here at Daily Kos and learned that I mis-numbered these little notebook entries of mine. This one is notebook number 75. Now I have to go back and make the changes on the others.

Thankfully, it’s a recent error, so that should take no time at all. (In fact, I already made the changes as I was writing this diary!)

2) I am now the proud owner of my very first MacBook (refurbished). I do need to get another computer as a back-up (you never know nowadays) but other than that...I would feel as if I were cheating on a spouse or a partner if I ever bought anything other than a MacBook.

And I don’t even know all of the various things that I can do with this thingie I have here but I’ll learn.

3) Long ago, I wrote out a list of the three pop music divas that I would totally “lose it” if they passed from this mortal plane to the choir of the heavens. Well, with the death of Tina Turner this past week, now only one of those divas remain.

Fortunately, I haven’t “lost it” nor am I even sad. After all, it has been public knowledge for some time that Ms. Turner had a series of debilitating illnesses, so I can’t say that her death is exactly a surprise.

What has been on my mind, though, is Ms. Turner’s spiritual journey. From the beginning of her “comeback” beginning in 1983, she credited her faith in Buddhism and chanting with helping to give her a sense of self where she was able to break free and become her true self. That’s always been an inspiring story to me.

I’m not a practicing Buddhist, even though I’ve studied Buddhism and I currently have books about Buddhism. I’m not a practicing anything, even though Taoism is what I seem to lean closest to. I’m a religious agnostic. But I am still...curious and I tend to pick up items here and there from all religions and philosophies very much cafeteria-style; if I like it, I try to apply it.

What I dislike with a passion, though, is fundamentalism and that even applies to areas outside of religion.

4) Memorial Day weekend is here with means that it’s the unofficial start of summer. What that means, of course, is that I am seriously jonesin’ for something else which doesn’t begin until the fall.

5) Oh, I did set up three of my volunteer assignments for Netroots this summer, which I suppose that I should attend since Netroots Nation is in Chicago this year!

Seriously looking forward to it, although I still have to sketch out all that I would like to do for the event.

Comments are below the fold.
