Hi beer fans, happy Friday! Come in and have a cold one with us!

I’ve written a lot about bottle openers over the years at FNBB; my favorite one might have been the German contraption that opened a case all at once. This one on the other hand is unmistakably American.
Bottle Breacher first appeared on Season 6 Episode 8 of "Shark Tank" as part of a special installment celebrating Veterans Small Business Week. One former Navy SEAL, Eli Crane, and his wife offered the Sharks 10% stake in their venture for $150,000. Its product -- personalized bottle openers made from recycled bullets -- was targeted at beer-drinking men, and it did wonders in the groomsman-gift market, generating half a million dollars through mostly online sales.
Perfect gift for the ammosexual in your life. Uh, no. Interestingly, inventor Eli Crane has left the recycled bullet business and gotten elected to Congress. Does it surprise you that he’s a Republican? Crane represents AZ-02.

You’ve heard about all the shit that the big brewers are getting from conservatives, but some small brewers aren’t afraid to get political.
Kirk Bangstad, owner of the Minocqua Brewing Company (MBC), began brewing pointedly political beers after “President Donald Trump (R) played politics with COVID-19 and Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) let restaurants twist in the wind,” the brewer wrote on its website. In protest, the brewer began creating politically progressive beers. His first two efforts – “Biden Beer” (marketed as “inoffensive and not bitter”) and Inauguration Day Beer (sold as a “peaceful transition of flavor”) – sold out before they were even made, MBC’s website states. MBC also sells six beers dedicated to progressive politicians, including a “Vice Presidential Stout” for Kamala Harris (D), a “Democratic Socialist Lager” called “Bernie Brew,” an “AOC IPA” bearing the likeness of Rep. Ocasio-Cortez, and a “Tammy Shandy” named after Sen. Baldwin (D-WI).

Here’s a gimmick beer I don’t think I’ve seen before: beer for cooking. You’ve probably heard of “beer can chicken”, this beer is designed for that by chicken magnate Perdue Farms. You won’t see this next to the chickens in your supermarket, it can only be bought from the Perdue website.
For summer 2023, Perdue has partnered with the SoHo, Manhattan-based Torch & Crown Brewing Company to create Perdue-branded Beer Can Chicken Beer, which Perdue hopes will help many a backyard griller perfect their beer can chicken. Billed as a "honey double-citrus summer ale," it's different from other beers that one might choose for grilling purposes because it's brewed with herbs and spices traditionally associated with grilled chicken, such as rosemary, thyme, and pink peppercorn.

What are you drinking? Is anyone brewing?
