Getting dirty to get clean may not make any sense. Now I understand what it’s all about. Follow along with the contortions of this Marsh Wren, all of them part of its preening and plumage maintenance. The dust absorbs excess oil so feathers don’t become greasy or matted. Dry skin and debris can be removed as well as smother or minimize lice, feather mites and other parasites. I’ll let you make up your own captions. It can be fun. Let me know in the comments. I have left numbers for each photo for reference.

Now that you are all clean from your dust bath, here are a few more photos showing you a Marsh Wren’s nest and where it lives.
A Marsh Wren beside its nest
One of the materials used for its nest.
Lots of this material for nest building.
I think this is a fecal sac and not a food item. Anyone know for sure?
Now you are all alert and ready for your turn.
