White to move and mate in two #357
Beware of writer friends, for you might end up as a character in their stories. The Doc of Cannery Row and Sweet Thursday was inspired by John Steinbeck’s friend and pioneer marine biologist, Ed Ricketts, then again, the writer’s pals may write about them too. All’s fair in love and war, sometimes, it is just about love.
Welcome back to the tri-weekly reboot of #ChessPuzzle nights (Sun, Tues and Thur) a chess set is recommended and the “Rules of the Road” edition, for pointers to algebraic chess notation, etc. I’ll have to re-read the title book to see if the noble bums of “the Palace Flophouse” had a chess set between them.
