We celebrate “The Hill We Climb” as a nation forged in revolution and inspired by the hope and dream of freedom and justice for all, as a nation forever unfinished and evolving because we dare to dream big.

We, the people, do not ban books. We read and discuss books. We treasure and protect freedom of speech from attacks by uncultured warriors who are prisoners of their fear of other people and facts that challenge beliefs the uncultured warriors stubbornly cling to as if in a death grip. Questioning is often uncomfortable but it is essential. As J.William Fulbright said, “In a democracy, dissent is an act of faith.”

We are a people of great optimism and faith, and as such we heed the words of Marie Curie:

“Nothing in life is to be feared, it is only to be understood. Now is the time to understand more, so that we may fear less.”

Consider this an homage to Amanda Gorman.
