Laughing at Florida voters
While many stories have told that DeSantis announced his bid for presidency, via a live Twitter conversation with Elon Musk, which crashed Twitter with the same precision by which Musk crashed his last SpaceX rocket few have commented on the shady bill he signed prior to his announcement, which alters Florida law for the benefit of one lowlife Florida presidential wannabe (and it is NOT an orange former president lowlife Florida presidential wannabe!) PBS was the only news organization which I found went into great detail regarding the "Florida bill allows DeSantis to run for president while governor". Under the bill which passed along party lines and which was signed by DeSantis just prior to his announcing his candidacy:
"Republican Ron DeSantis would not have to resign as Florida governor in order to run for president if he chooses under a bill given final approval Friday in by the GOP-dominated state Legislature."
Strangely, the law doesn't change for ANY other Florida politician who may want to run for ANY other office. It only changes for a Florida politician who wants to run for President or Vice-President. (I guess DeSantis wanted to keep his options open after he tanks for the GOP presidential nominee.) This comes after DeSantis, while on the gubernatorial campaign trail, refused to confirm that he intended to abandon the state, if elected governor, in pursuit of presidential dreams. Well, as they say, he now has his pudding and he can eat it too (with his 3 fingers)! Prior to signing the "DeSantis can run for president and keep his job as Governor" law, by announcing his bid for presidency he would have been required to step down as governor and the state would have the opportunity to elect someone who is not a fascist in a special election. (Of course, that doesn't mean that they would make the sane choice for their next governor, but at least it would be a possibility.) This is no different than any authoritarian in any other country changing the law to hold onto power while attempting to grab even more. For example what Putin did in Russia regarding term limits. Unforunately, it is merely another example of this country's grim slide from Democracy into Authoritarianism. With the fourth estate either ignoring the serious implications of this type of behavior, or looking at everything with both-sider lenses; while attempting to make every political run a 'horse race', they're ignoring the illegal doping that's going on in the race. The doping of the American public!
