Every single day we edge closer to the cliff. THE REAL CLIFF. The fiscal cliff that will have devastating repercussions for everyone in the country for years and years to come.

Remember that little huge fiasco that Kevin McCarthy went through to become Speaker of the House back in January? The Roll Call believes that he made concessions to the House Freedom Caucus to finally walk away with that title. And those concessions are what are keeping the entire country clinging to…

McCarthy may have ultimately won the gavel, but only after he made multiple concessions to the House Freedom Caucus that essentially gave them all the power. These include the ability to boot him from the speakership—for instance, if he starts making debt limit deals with Democrats that they don’t like. www.npr.org/...

Since then, Dems and Pubs are locked in a misguided battle over the debt limit. As usual, the GOP is willing to hold the country hostage in order to reduce government spending — but only the spending the GOP doesn’t like. The debt ceiling was reached in January, and Yellen has repeatedly warned of disastrous consequences if the U.S. does default.

I believe most of us understand exactly why this is such a ridiculous argument. Like a child saying he won’t do his homework anymore if his parents don’t reduce his sister’s allowance. It doesn’t even make sense, but the average Joe out there doesn’t really understand. They still believe government is fairly logical, and that a political party would never actually act in such a way as to destroy the well-being of every American.

If Covid didn’t teach them, this won’t either.

Dear Joe, my Joe. President Biden. It is a terrified terrorist hostage you are dealing with, who is controlled by other terrorists. He will lose his position if he doesn’t do what the terrorists tell him to do.

You are the president. The FBI. The captain. You hold the cards here. I won’t use a weapon as a metaphor, but I will refer to the Constitution and ask you to please, please, ease the minds of the passengers on this ship.

Please, Captain, O my Captain.

Do not negotiate with these terrorists.
