A progressive sweep in Allegheny County!
Last night was the best election outcome our area has had in many years! Every single progressive candidate on the ballot in Allegheny County not only won, but generally won by a large margin!
Since the county, which includes the City of Pittsburgh and its suburbs, is pretty blue, whoever wins the primary is often the presumptive winner in the general.
The brightest spot was the very robust win of progressive Sara Innamorato over the shady machine politician and outgoing county treasurer, John Weinstein.
But in a very close second for “brightest spot” was the ousting of long time DA Stephen Zappala. He will be replaced by Matt Dugan, who brings years of experience as a public defender to the job.
And my personal favorite, Bethany Hallam, shut down her smarmy opponent by a whopping 13 points.
My local candidates for school board made it as well, though they still have an uphill battle in the fall in this purple suburb. Onward!
