Need a bigger boat by Cat Riley

More crafts from Cat. These went to new homes on Wednesday. I actually wanted to keep one or two but let them all go since I would soon have no room anywhere at home. Come see what I did this month.

As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!

IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!

This is a simple frame, painted to look like wood inside and using a sticker for the potted plant. The little pallet in front sports a faux succulent that you can hardly tell from a real one. Hot glue doesn’t bother it though like it would a live one.

beach succulent

This frame had a groove in it which I filled with this swipe shape. It is open on top and bottom, with shells and a piece of Gold Beach, Oregon drift wood.

more beach less worry

I love these metal light houses. I made one last year with a solar light on it and I kept that one. This one has no light but it is spiffy as far as I am concerned.

Scallop Bay Lighthouse

This sail boat was so cool to use here. I covered the back with burlap and and painted the ocean and added a burlap disc I painted for the sun.

Take me to the ocean

This was another one I wanted to keep. I watercolor painted the mermaid’s tail and the sea urchin is from my local beach but years ago. The star fish is store bought resin cast but the spiral shell next to it is real.

Beach

These new metal items like this seahorse from Dollar Tree are a step up. The octopus in the top pix is from the same line. I should have bought 2 or 3 of each but will have to wait til next year now. The sand dollar is cast resin but the other shells are real with a piece of sea glass.

Seahorse and shells

This was so easy. I printed the graphic and cut and pasted it on this pizza pan that I painted to look like wood. A little bow and some sea grass twine complete it.

One in a melon

As I was making this, I heard some loud, obnoxious right wing loony on tv yelling that “all the mermaids and water people you see these days” are evil and demonic and that darkness had descended over the White House. I had no idea. I did it anyway and she did not bring evil to my house. I cut the mermaid from cardboard and put her hair on one strand at a time.

Mermaid at heart

Next month I will do more of this type since it will be June, leading into summer still. I have lots of supplies for this theme and want to use them up and gain some space in my storage areas.

I hope you enjoyed this little boutique. Have a good day.
