We’re way ahead of the others… we’re in first place
But it’s nothing to be proud of..it’s a total disgrace
Here In ” the land of the free…the home of the brave”
we send hundreds of thousands to an untimely grave.
Mass killings are leaving most of us numb
while we have gun policies we know are real dumb.
Most people want laws that would help end the violence
but what we get from Republicans is worse than just silence
More gun violence occurs in the states that are “red”
where mass killings have left many more people dead.
Outlawing automatic rifles would be a good start;
better background checks to buy guns would be something smart.
Safe storage requirements and red-flag laws are needed
but calls for these changes go mainly unheeded.
In the meantime we worry, we’re disgusted…and we cower
as more people die by guns…every single day...every hour.
