13yo boy shoots police officer instead of playing baseball [1]

I came across this disturbing story today. According to this report, 3 teens, including a 13 yo and 14 yo, decided to go looking for a “target of opportunity” when they saw an unknown man walking on the sidewalk. They exited the cart they were driving and began shooting at the man. Police responded, chased the 13yo who had a pistol. The boy shot the policeman in the foot, who then returned fire hitting the boy who is now in the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
So now we have 3 young boys who have destroyed their lives. We all know teenagers, especially boys, do not mature until well into their 20’s. They need help, and guidance. Of course this should primarily be parents, but who knows what social situations exist in that family. Did these boys have families ???
This is also Florida, where I’m guessing social support and programs for families in need are essentially non-existent. So instead of having playing baseball and having a great childhood, this 13 yo got a gun and went hunting for someone to kill.
