As we’ve traditionally said regarding these mate in two puzzles, there are no rules. And that stipulation will still hold, although, as we’ve always maintained, there is a certain etiquette.
And that is... if you are an experienced chess player (or, even one of us patzers who’s figured out the solution), could you please keep it to yourself until 12:00 EST, to give other players a chance? What is allowed is to posit the number of distinct mates. This signals to other players that you have figured out the correct solution.
We’re not against players throwing stuff against the wall to see if it sticks (I’m looking at you, annielli), but if you put the actual answer out there too early, experience shows that it just kills all the conversation.
So if you’ve figured it out, please feel free to submit your answer at 12:00 EST. Numerous examples of how to format your answer, from puzzles past, are available for your perusal. Just search for articles with the tag: #ChessPuzzle.
Speaking of which, if you want to posit answers, could you please stick to using algebraic notation, as described here:
Algebraic notation (chess)
Just doing this one thing will make lobachevsky a happy person… maybe.
All the best,
The DKos chess team
