I am interested in reading Daily Kos members’ responses to this information:

1972 — Edmund Muskie, at a New Hampshire rally, appears to cry about some insults about his wife. His campaign subsequently dissolved.

1988 — Michael Dukakis appears in an ill-advised photo-op wearing an Army helmet and driving an Army tank. His campaign subsequently dissolved.

2004 — Howard Dean, after winning some early primaries screamed, “Yeehaw!” His campaign subsequently dissolved.

There may have been other reasons for not supporting these candidates, but these are the behaviors that became a media and public focus and sufficient reason to end their presidential aspirations.

So, what if any other presidential candidate’s behaviors were more egregious, such as provably lying, cheating, and stealing? Would that be sufficient to disqualify them from running for the office?

I’m just curious because the presidency seems to be a really important job.
