Columbine has a bud and lots of other stuff really greening up! Daylily stalk in the top center has just shot up in the last couple of weeks.
Good morning gardeners and welcome to our weekly gathering where we talk about our gardens, the weather, our pets, our successes (and failures), and just plain ol’ chat over the garden fence. It is a great place to ask garden questions too as we have a range of knowledge among our regulars!
Here at my patio in southern Oregon the “weather whiplash” has taken us into the 90’s, back down into the 50’s, and now we are warming up fast back to the 90’s for the next week! I think my plants have just decided they are ok with it and are flourishing. There is lots of new growth to be seen in many of my perennials:
The fuchsia in the teal pot is coming back, my mini rose got pruned and is showing some new growth, the delosperma in the the green bowl got a haircut and is perking back up. To it’s left is the clematis (Niobe) I bought recently, still in the nursery pot.
This is the dark pink salvia that has exploded into new growth and lots of buds!
The Jerusalem sage is forming one flower stalk already. The big blue bowl™️ is full of echeveria (hens & chicks)
The Alpine strawberry has lots of flowers
My lavenders and others: Black grow bag is English Lavender, smaller pot behind it is Czech Blue, larger pot to the left is a Belgian mum, then in the bucket is coreopsis, and to the left is a white Spanish lavender. In the background the square pot is the Raspberry Ice Dianthus.
My thyme and oregano are flourishing!
Ok, now for the seedlings and new stuff:
Mini greenhouse doing great! New plants on the top shelf, tray of peppers on the left and tomatoes on the right below.
I am so happy that all of the tomato seeds have successfully sprouted and I am even starting to see true leaves form! The peppers are just now starting to peak up out of the soil and I am hopeful this coming blast of heat gives them the boost they need.
New plants getting a drink of water in tray
So my new plants from Goodwin Creek Gardens in the back are: Attar of Roses geranium, Ginger mint, Kaliteri oregano, Scarlet Pineapple sage, tricolor sage, and Laced Romeo dianthus.
The Attar of Roses geranium may sound familiar to some from previous posts and it is! The one I got last year (may have been the year before, don’t remember at the moment) had something take a big chunk out of the main stem and it broke. I tried to encourage it back to life but it never really came back and then it did not make it through the winter. Interestingly enough I was reading up on care for gladiolus and was reading about thrips and learned that they also attack geraniums. The description of their damage sounds just like what happened! Now I will keep an eye out for them!
The Niobe clematis and John Davis rose are in the front. I got two nice big 14” planters for them and plan to put them out in the gravel area against the new fence with some nice trellises for them to climb.
And of course I couldn’t resist an evening shot with my new lanterns!
Skittles watching the edge of the deck for signs of the neighbor cat;) Solar lanterns glowing as night falls on the patio.
So that is what’s going on in my garden. How about you?
