Kitchen Table Kibitzing, May 12, 2023: Tell Me Something Good [1]

I’ve been tending to my self care with a journaling system, Silk & Sonder. Today, it just so happens that a journaling prompt was to celebrate a personal win, some victory, large or small — and to do so publicly. The timing of this coinciding with my KTK diary made an edition of Tell Me Something Good just irresistible. I’ll start — and I hope you will follow on in the comments and share something good that you did or that flowered for you recently.

My win is that I dodged a couple of cancer potentials. I had a colonoscopy last week (it had been five years). Two polyps were found and removed. The pathology report came back this week. Although they were benign (win!) they were each of a type that can become a cancer (double win!). They are gone, baby, gone and I am so glad.



Both of my parents died of colon cancer. It is a horrible, horrible disease that is so preventable with colonoscopies. I realize that many people put off screening, perhaps because they dread the procedure. This was my fifth colonoscopy since 2011 (given my family history and personal history of polyps) and I’m telling you, it’s not that bad. It’s really not. The real evil is colon cancer and you can prevent it from happening to you. Awesome, isn’t it?
