Yeah. It was all a bull shit story.

Last February Colorado ranchers Courtney and Nicole Mallery, a Black couple, faced felony stalking charges after a dispute with white neighbors and harassment by the El Paso County Sheriff’s Department (one particular deputy, especially.) I reported on it here. Mr. Mallory was arrested and held on S6,000 bond. A GoFundMe page was set up and folks all across the country donated small amounts to help them get enough money to secure legal counsel.

Yesterday it was announced that all charges have been dropped against them.

x IT'S ABOUT TIME!

Now pay attention to the retaliation that follows this because it's going to happen and THEY need to be arrested đź’Ż#injustice #racism #Colorado #justice

I guess it took from February to May to figure out that it wasn’t the Black ranchers who were at fault. Alas. Once again, thank goodness for those pesky little cop cameras. The Rocky Mountain NAACP had to investigate how the El Paso County Sheriff's Office handled the case and the arrests. They didn’t like what they saw. www.9news.com/...

Thanks to everyone who helped and cared. He said she said. More like White said, Black said. Cops said, Black said. Then throw the Black guy in jail. Sorry. I’m still disgusted, but relieved for the Mallerys. The cops released a bunch of video tapes, piecemeal, but not the last two until their backs were up against the wall. Then...voila. The evidence against the Mallerys just wasn’t there.

Statement from lawyers on behalf of Mallery family: Today, prosecutors and the Court dropped all charges against the Mallerys, determining they could not prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. This dismissal comes four months after the Mallery’s arrest, and with the resolute advocacy and demands for accountability from the Mallerys and many in the community. We are pleased with this outcome and recognize the District Attorney’s office for reaching this conclusion. While justice has been served today, the fight for individual, law enforcement and prosecutorial accountability are far from over. We implore the District Attorney’s and Sheriff’s Offices to conduct more thorough front-end investigations before filing charges, to minimize injustices such as these in the future and to ensure the criminally accused are afforded due process of law.
