No one should be shocked by the GOP's defense of their #1 sexual assault champion. [1]

There’s a front page story by Joan McCarter right now headlined “Republicans stand by their man after sexual abuse verdict.”
x Sen. Tommy Tuberville says a jury finding that Trump is a sexual predator "makes me want to vote for him twice." It's the perfect quote to meld 3 Republican themes: misogyny, violence and election fraud.

Not sure why anyone’s surprised by this:
x 2002: GOP Arkansas state senator Fay Boozman claimed that it's "rare" for women to become pregnant from rape because of "hormonal changes" due to their fear which "block" conception. He called this "God's Little Shield." pic.twitter.com/Se0co6ObUw — Charles Ghoul-ba 🎃 (@charles_gaba) October 26, 2022
x 2005: GOP Arizona state representative Warde Nichols, also justifying his vote against treating spousal rape as, y'know, rape, said that when you get married you're contractually obliged to have sex with your spouse. pic.twitter.com/6hTH9IZM9W — Charles Ghoul-ba 🎃 (@charles_gaba) October 26, 2022
x 2008: GOP Texas state representative Jonathan Stickland claimed that marital rape doesn't exist, and therefore husbands should "take what they want" from their wives. pic.twitter.com/rY5eNSfwID — Charles Ghoul-ba 🎃 (@charles_gaba) October 26, 2022
x 2011: GOP Indiana state representative Eric Turner justified opposing a rape/incest exception for abortion by claiming that women will falsely claim to have been raped in order to get one. pic.twitter.com/vegP3JztHV — Charles Ghoul-ba 🎃 (@charles_gaba) October 26, 2022
x 2011: GOP Kansas state representative Pete DeGraaf explained why women should be required to purchase "rape insurance" riders separately from major medical insurance to "preparing ahead of time," like keeping a spare tire in your car. pic.twitter.com/7dIxDwyUar — Charles Ghoul-ba 🎃 (@charles_gaba) October 26, 2022
x 2012: GOP Tennessee state representative John Ragan compared rape to being homosexual, referring to both as "bad choices" that people make. He also compared both of the to "overeating." pic.twitter.com/wXDTpQUjef — Charles Ghoul-ba 🎃 (@charles_gaba) October 26, 2022
x 2012: I'm limiting myself to state legislators only in this thread, but I *had* to include this one since it's what led me to start compiling these insights into the Republican mind on rape & abortion in the first place: Here it is, Todd Akin's infamous "Legitimate Rape" quote: pic.twitter.com/6iPTirQuF4 — Charles Ghoul-ba 🎃 (@charles_gaba) October 26, 2022
x 2013: GOP Tennessee state representative Andy Holt referred to the Humane Society's fundraising efforts to expose animal abuse as "tape and rape." (I guess he'd be OK with @DrOz murdering puppies). pic.twitter.com/D43v1Vj7LJ — Charles Ghoul-ba 🎃 (@charles_gaba) October 26, 2022
x 2014: GOP Virginia state senator Dick Black (who's actually on the main list twice) invited a reporter to watch him view violent rape porn as part of his justification for opposing making spousal rape a crime. pic.twitter.com/R2i1jy2qfy — Charles Ghoul-ba 🎃 (@charles_gaba) October 26, 2022
x 2014: GOP Missouri state representative Rick Brattin only wanted a rape/incest abortion exception to be allowed if the rapist provided written, notarized consent to his victim getting one. pic.twitter.com/RXvDLPwXv4 — Charles Ghoul-ba 🎃 (@charles_gaba) October 26, 2022
x 2015: GOP West Virginia state delegate Brian Kurcaba thinks rape-induced babies are a beautiful thing. pic.twitter.com/VWTJR63n45 — Charles Ghoul-ba 🎃 (@charles_gaba) October 26, 2022
x 2016: GOP Idaho state representative Pete Nielsen thinks the trauma of rape & incest somehow makes pregnancy highly unlikely. He does want you to know that he's not 100% certain about this, mind you; it's just something he thinks. pic.twitter.com/X4jXh7LceK — Charles Ghoul-ba 🎃 (@charles_gaba) October 26, 2022
x 2016: GOP Georgia state representative Renee Unterman opposed requiring forensic "rape kits" be accounted for & have clear procedural rules for how they're carried out. pic.twitter.com/HV3cUYeBSC — Charles Ghoul-ba 🎃 (@charles_gaba) October 26, 2022
x Sources for all 28 of the above can be found here, along with nearly *70* more from GOP U.S. Senators, Congressmen, officials & activists.

I stopped updating the site the day Trump was elected in 2016. There didn't seem to be much point anymore. — Charles Ghoul-ba 🎃 (@charles_gaba) October 26, 2022
If you’re as sickened as I am by the Republican Party’s gleeful cheering on of sexual assault, I strongly recommend focusing that anger on removing as many of them from power as possible at the federal, state and local levels.
Remember, there are five states which have either legislative or statewide office elections THIS year (2023). Here’s easy ways you can help Democrats win:
VIRGINIA LEGISLATURE: Donate to over 2 dozen Dems running in SWING districts for state House & Senate THIS November.
NEW JERSEY LEGISLATURE: Donate to over 2 dozen Dems running in SWING districts for state House & Senate THIS November.
KENTUCKY STATEWIDES : Donate to re-elect Gov. Andy Beshear & to elect Buddy Wheatley (Sec. of State) and Pamela Stevenson (Atty. General) THIS November.
LOUISIANA STATEWIDES & LEGISLATURE : Donate to elect Shawn Wilson Governor along w/Dems running for House & Senate SWING districts THIS November.
MISSISSIPPI STATEWIDES & LEGISLATURE: Donate to elect Brandon Presley Governor, Greta Martin Atty. General, Shuwaski Young Sec. of State & Donna Niewiaroski to HD-012 THIS November.
You can find all of these links and more at XforZ.us, a simple website I set up to compile all of my 2023-2024 cycle Democratic fundraising pages into one place.
NOTE: This is NOT a PAC! These are simply links to ActBlue pages which allow you to donate to multiple candidates at once.
100% of donations raised through these links goes directly to the individual candidate campaigns listed. I receive nothing.
Donations are split evenly across all listed races by default (along w/some state parties, Dem legislative caucuses and Voters of Tomorrow Action), but you can also pick & choose which to donate to using the "customize amounts" option at each link.
