Our buddy Patrick O'Connell - Passed on April 30, 2023

The following is the obituary that my friend Tracey, my brother Phil and I pulled together for our friend Pat O’Connell. Patrick loved people. He cared about people who needed help and he helped when he could. That didn’t make him a rich man. But it made him a good man.

We’re gonna miss him. If you knew him, you would miss him too.

Bono (Patrick’s favorite band was U2) wrote this for his mom. We leave it here for Patrick.

She said: "Free yourself to be yourself

If only you could see yourself

Free yourself, to be yourself

If only you could see"

Bono’s mom told him to be himself and we know that Patrick got the message — he was free to be himself, too.

Patrick S. O’Connell passed April 30, 2023

Born and raised in the Lewiston/Auburn area, Patrick’s happiest moments were spent with people. He loved to see them laugh – especially if he caused their laughter. He organized teams to help others – whether that was to build a deck or mow someone’s lawn. He gave his time generously to the Children’s Miracle Network, often organizing fundraisers to help ill and injured kids.

Having come from a professional printing background, Patrick settled in to a career at retail. Patrick worked tirelessly to foster and maintain a safe working environment. He was a beloved surrogate uncle and God father to the many children of his friends.

Patrick is survived by those friends whom he treated like family.

In lieu of flowers, donations are encouraged to either the Children’s Miracle Network, American Diabetes Association, or the Boys Scouts of America.
