Is mental illness a lethal weapon? [1]

Republicans say “Guns are not the problem, mental illness is the problem.” So, can an individual rapidly kill off 37 people in a shopping mall using a mental illness as his only weapon?

There are a lot of people with mental illnesses. If every American with some type of mental illness wanted to commit a mass murder, within about one to two months there would be enough mass murders to wipe out the entire USA population; and maybe Canada and Mexico as well.

Of course, the only way for anyone with or without a mental illness to kill dozens of people within a few minutes is to use a high-capacity firearm. No matter how many people say otherwise, all evidence clearly indicates that guns are the problem.
