Dearest Newdists, I hope you had a great week. I’ve been putting out family fires, and the upshot of that is ---> I will be gone all of June to care for my mom while sibling and family go on vacation. No worries though, diaries will be in queue.
The Coronation is today. A friend is having a garden party after watching the event. I’ll probably attend. It will be my first get-together since COVID began. I mean, it is C’ville, right? Named for Queen Charlotte, and for all intents, a Carolian adjacent naming... I think. The party begins around 11:00— 11:30 I’ll drop in for a bit and then I’ll have to leave.
By the way, have you watched Queen Charlotte on Netflix? I haven’t seen it yet. Soon, though. Also, what is up with so many people named India...any ideas? Would you name your child after a country or a continent? Happens, evidently, after all Europa was a woman in Greek mythology. Additionally, in Scotland, Affrica was a Celtic queen, and it’s an Irish name. Makes one wonder who named the countries for map making, doesn’t it?
Some Coronation related artefacts —
x The Stone of Destiny has returned to England for the first time in more than a quarter of a century to feature in the King’s coronation ceremony.

x During the Coronation, the monarch is presented with the Sword of Offering, first used at the Coronation of King George IV. This round boi is a red-capped robin. Found across southern Australia, these distinctive but shy birds are the smallest of the red robins.
They breed from August to January, raising up to three broods of chicks in this time. #wildoz #birds #birdsofaustralia pic.twitter.com/xyNv9dq6cD — Alinytjara Wilurara Landscape Board (@AWLandscapeSA) May 3, 2023

Did you ever read John Wyndham’s “Day of the Triffids?” I know it was also a movie but I’ve never been able to access it. And then lost interest in seeing it. Reading the old battered book, found at a junk shop, was enough.
Look at the tip of the bill. It shows the stability of flight.
