Good morning, Newdists! Happy First Twosday Of May!
Grab a cuppa and a nosh and join us for some stuff and chat. Or, chat and stuff. Whichever works!
This was a peculiar find, but I had to grab it. I had no idea that Napoleon was this handsome! At least, I think so. Except for the whole “being dead” thing. It only just hit me...he has an uncanny resemblance to, of all people, Dennis Hopper!

Fancy a nosh?

This, taken N/E of Leeds, reminds me of a spot along the A-4494 in Berkshire, where bluebells grew wild in a little spot near fields of baa-baas. To my delight, one early spring morning, we stopped near that field, just in time to see a new lamb….sneeze!! It was so adorable!!! Then, just a mile or so along…..this:

Yesterday, while admiring the little birds who come to feed on worms and grubs under my window, I saw my first local robin of spring!

This…..broke my heart. I couldn’t scroll by it.
x I visited Ft. Sumter yesterday. Found the tiny impressions from the fingers of the slave child who made the bricks that built the fort. No name, no face, just a number on someone’s property tax records. That’s the American history the Republican Party is banning. pic.twitter.com/8P7xdqTgup — Sgt Joker (@TheSGTJoker) April 29, 2023
This one got me, too, but in a far nicer way!
x In Portland, ME every Valentine's Day red hearts appeared all over the city and no one knew who did it. It started in the late 70s. The man who did it recently died, hearts still stacked in his cellar. They now are being hung on his street in his memory.
