I’ve got a lot on my plate right now. I started a new job today. Day after tomorrow I’m going to Tallahassee for a protest against DeSantis with the Dream Defenders. Next week I turn 60. The day after that I start a new drug regimen for the rare lung disease that me and my pulmonologist had hoped was in remission but blood tests say otherwise.

And that’s not the all of it, but here’s what I want you to do if you can. Toss DK a few bucks. I just did.

Why did I do that and why am I asking you to do this right now? Because the ad that just showed up on the top of my DK page was bad soft porn and not at all representative of the content here.

The heat is on, y’all. I want DK to be strong enough so they don’t have to rely on porn revenue to continue.

If you’ve read this far, you probably share at least some of my appreciation for not only the front page diaries on here, but also, and maybe more, the community diaries and the thoughtful, intelligent, and experienced comments from the community who knows what it’s talking about.

IMO, the things we like aren’t sustainable if the first thing new people see when they visit is porn, and bad porn at that.

So toss DK a few bucks if you’ve got them, okay? This place is worth saving, it really is.

Oh, and one more thing, and this is for DK if you’re listening. You really need to revamp your donation mechanisms because I thought I was whipping out a quick diary, but I just spent 25 minutes trying to find a good link for someone like me to tell someone like anyone who’s reading this to donate. And I couldn’t really find a good one, but I did find one that is trustworthy and works, but it seems to me that I probably wouldn’t feel all that safe with it if I wasn’t an experienced ActBlue user.

I think, dear DK, that at a minimum you need an obvious donate button on the top of the page. You also need to make sure that your ActBlue link says a little something about you instead of just being a credit card machine. My two cents. I know you can do better. I know you can.
