When Disney built its resort park in Florida back in the 70s, it was legally obligated to replace the wetland habitat it destroyed with an equal amount somewhere else. To meet that obligation, the company bought a 9,000-acre tract of wetland near Lake Russell and donated it to the Nature Conservancy. Now it is a nature preserve that is free to the public.
Some photos from a visit.
For those who don't know, I live in a converted campervan and travel around the country, posting photo diaries of places that I visit. I am currently wintering in Florida.
