Eve learned about fermentation from the birds -- mostly a matter of picking berries. It was a great help, since Adam was persistently intoxicated without persuasion, going off into the bushes to fondle himself. Eve was taught fire by the trees -- all things knew of it it, but trees were especially articulate. One day, tending her fire, it was as if a little voice whispered in her ear -- fruit, vegetable, vegetable fruit -- and she spoke aloud, asking -- which is it? Consequences ensued.
