Rep. Thomas Massie, who represents Louisville, Kentucky, used this photo as his Christmas card in 2021.

Mass shootings are incidents involving several victims of firearm-related violence. The precise inclusion criteria are disputed, and there is no broadly accepted definition. Some have taken advantage of the ambiguity in denoting the type of crime being committed. Consequently MSM and other entities are exploiting this inaccuracy for other purposes. For example the John Birch Society would blame too many thoughts and not enough prayers.

The governors of Kentucky and Tennessee have both lost personal friends in two mass shootings over the past two weeks. A shooter in downtown Louisville, Ky., killed at least four people and injured eight others in a bank building Monday morning, including friends of Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear, he said during a press conference. [...] The Louisville shooting comes just two weeks after three children and three adults were killed at a Christian elementary school in Nashville. Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee said that one of the victims, Cindy Peak, was friends with his wife Maria. www.politico.com/...

About 12 shootings, one of which can be defined as a mass shooting, have occurred on K-12 school campuses so far this year, leaving at least 10 dead and a dozen injured, according to the GVA and local reports.

x Kentucky is a permitless carry state. When lawmakers eliminated concealed carry permits in 2019 they argued that more people carrying guns would reduce incidents like these https://t.co/zZiDzrE4AP — Jennifer Mascia (@JenniferMascia) April 10, 2023

The police did not give a motive for the shooting, but they said that the gunman had a connection to the bank and may have been a current or former employee. “We believe this is a lone gunman involved in this that did have a connection to the bank,” Paul Humphrey, the deputy chief of the Louisville Metro Police Department said at a news conference. Five people were killed inside the bank, the deputy chief said, and at least eight people, including a police officer, were taken to a nearby hospital. He said that two people were in critical condition, including a police officer who was in surgery on Monday morning. “There is no active danger known to the public at this time,” Chief Humphrey said. x Kentucky Gov.
