The first song I chose was a Michael Jackson hit.
Okay, this time I will use the list that has 100 songs. Here is the link:
en.wikipedia.org/…
I am glad we are not in a class, in college. A neighbor of mine just reminded me, that colleges do not allow their students to quote Wikipedia. I think I understand why they say that, but I still enjoy using Wikipedia. Sometimes, I cannot find enough information there, and I go digging elsewhere on the internet. But for the hit songs, I think we are all set!
Michael Jackson, at number 91:
Great showmanship. Seems that he was trying to outdo Elvis, who, in turn, was trying to outdo Chuck Berry and Little Richard.
Foreigner, at number 88:
My favorite line from this is:
My mind is racing, but my body’s in the lead!
Great, basic, hard rock.
Ambrosia, at number 84:
As I try to understand the story told in the lyrics, I feel confused, a little. Back in the day, I just heard it on the radio a lot, so it is now a part of me, no matter what the lyrics are supposed to mean. That is why I am doing this series of music diaries, to bring back those forgotten parts of me.
Electric Light Orchestra, at number 81:
Turn the volume up!
I’ll tell you once more, before I get off the floor, don’t bring me down!
I never saw this video before. Another good reason to do these diaries, I get to see videos that were put to these old songs, songs from before YouTube. Before MTV:
en.wikipedia.org/…
MTV (originally an initialism of Music Television) is a 24-hour American cable music video channel officially launched on August 1, 1981.
Well, soon we will be posting songs from the MTV era. Anyway:
Earth, Wind, and Fire, at number 78:
Aahh. So smooth. And great showmanship.
Dire Straits, at number 61:
Nice song about the music business. Such great work on the guitar. Mellow, yet lively, at the same time.
The Charlie Daniels Band, at number 50:
When that song hit the radio waves, a whole lot of rock and roll fans embraced a little bit of country fiddle. I know I did.
Toto, at number 44:
You know, I have never understood the lyrics to that song. In the comments, if anyone has a crystal clear explanation, you may tell me. I am not in the mood to figure it out for myself, right now. I just like the song. It is a part of me, as I keep saying about most of the songs I post.
Cheap Trick, at number 34:
So smooth, so much a part of me. The bass track just keeps going lower and lower and lower, it seems.
Amii Stewart, at number 22:
Sort of Motown, sort of disco, and with interesting musical instruments, that I am not familiar with. A part of me, still.
Gloria Gaynor, at Number 6:
This is a great theme song, for all of us. What are we doing, if we are not surviving? And even thriving, if we can, as I am trying to do here, with you, since my wife died, a year and a month ago. I will survive. I keep my doctor appointments to stay healthy. Thank you for helping me, with your positive comments, and your many additional songs. I left out a lot of great ones, just to save me some time. Feel free to post them in the comments.
And finally, The Knack, at number 1:
Simple, basic, rock and roll, seems to me. Nice.
Okay, your turn. Here is the link again:

Party on, my friends!
And hugs!
