Ghana- Zenabu's Baby Has a Name! [1]

Very exited and happy today!
Today was the day of the naming ceremony for the baby of Zenabu and Haddi.
This is very important in Ghana. Usually the naming is done shortly after birth. It is the day when the baby is old enough to be brought out in public and the naming ceremony is the way the baby is both given its name and made a ‘person’ and a part of the community.
John in Ghana helped Zenabu through a very difficult and dangerous pregnancy. She almost died several times but finally the little girl was born safely on January 31st.
We simply did not have the funds to do the naming ceremony until today but finally it is official. At a small ceremony earlier today the little girl was named;
Vicky Salamatu Haddi.
The kos community here helped greatly with funds and I am deeply appreciative. Both Zenabu and Vicky would have died if not for the help that was given (and the prayers and good thoughts helped, too!)
I know I have posted so many stories of people with problems and suffering. I am so glad to be able to post a positive story of something good!
Zenabu and Haddi are both unable to read but if anyone wants to send their congratulations I will send to John and he will tell them.
These people are a part of our Kos community too and I hope everyone is as happy as I am today.
(Incidentally Vicky is, of course, the baby in the photo. Zenabu the mother is holding her on her lap and Haddi the father is seated next to them, John is in the background. I am not sure who the other people are but they were there to celebrate with the little family.)
