For the past 20 years, we have seen many changes in our environment across the world. Weather changes affect at local level whereas climate affects at global level. Ocean and wind are main communication in our atmosphere. Temperature of ocean determines weather conditions. Sea Surface Temperature and precipitation every season affect the weather.
The last journey of winter season 2022 and 2023, La Nina brought a frigid winter. This is due to the cold-water upwelling in the Pacific Ocean (South America Peru) that changes the direction from West to the East. As a result, The Atlantic region in the East Coast (Eastern States,) received the coldest winter weather. In addition, the sea surface temperature in the Polar Vortex region was deeply affected which brings heavy snowfall in Northern hemisphere .
As we enter the Spring season 2023, the West coast California, Oregon suffered an unexpected flood from devastating atmospheric river rain that lasted for days. Moreover, last 1995 spring, California experienced high tide in the Pacific Ocean and atmospheric river storms.
Previous record of El Nino (1982, 1983, 1997, 1998, 2016) has similar weather pattern, in each hemisphere. Scientist, explorer and Meteorologist Gilbert Walker went on an expedition in the largest Pacific Ocean where he discovered these mysteries. At the time, nobody knew about ENSO. Later in the 1960, California University Professor Jacob Bjerknes discovered an unusual warm sea surface temperature in the Pacific Ocean every cycle of El Nino.
Many years have passed, meteorologists have progressed in detecting cycle of ENSO (El Nino Southern Oscillation). Farmers and Fishermen have not made much progress in land. El Nino weather phenomenon brings lot of rain in some region (for example California atmospheric river). Infrastructure and Agriculture need to change for future cycle of ENSO.
