America is not a democracy; it is an oligarchy. [1]

This oligarchy allows an anti-social minority to (1) pass regressive legislation and block progressive legislation, (2) install a regressive supreme court, (3) elect a sociopath president, and (4) acquit an impeached president who is guilty of treason. None of this would be possible in a democracy.

When disputes come before the minority-representing supreme court, the regressive justices simply rule in favor of the anti-social minority, contrary to the interests of the progressive majority, thereby perpetuating the minority-rule system of oligarchy.

If America were a democracy, where all votes count the same, Trump (and W.) would not have been 'elected', and the Supreme Court would still be legitimate. Five of the six current anti-social justices were appointed by regressive presidents, W. and Trump, who lost the popular vote. Not democratic.

This archaic, oligarchic system prevents the establishment of an actual democracy, and is the biggest obstacle to progress that exists. Fixing this one thing would allow advancement in every other area. We can fix the problem by abolishing the Senate. A big job, yes, but we must start somewhere, and and that would be to start a discussion on the subject. In the meantime, stop calling it a democracy, and call it what it is, an oligarchy.
