A Masterpiece
You all know about some parents in Utah and the firing of a teacher because she showed a picture of Michelangelo’s David.
When I was 7 years old, my mom gave me this book. It was an art book with pictures of paintings and sculptures by the classic Masters. That included David and other naked bodies, male and female. I loved that book, it was big. It made me love art and never made me upset or distraught. I was just amazed at the skills of artists to create such beauty. After all, I have seen my brother as a baby, when my mom changed his diapers. I was 7 years older. I knew that boys had a peepe between their legs. So what? What my mom did by giving me that book was healthier than to make me read the Old Testament. She never did that to me. Later on in life I tried just out of curiosity to read the Old Testament and it horrified me. I am glad that she was a “woke” mother. Seeing those masterpieces at 7 years old only made me love art, and I love art. It widened my horizons. I loved the human body, male and female, they are to me masterpieces of evolution. As a scientist I love art and literature and music. By trying to deny children the appreciation of a masterpiece because it shows a penis, may say to them that their bodies are shameful and dirty. Yes, toxic religion.
