The Poetical Pundit: My Intro
I’m the Poetical Pundit, my name is Warren Pease.
I wanna welcome you to my raps-a-dees.
I contemplate what America views and reads:
I call it like I see it, with no apologies.
I might suffer now and then from foot-in-mouth disease;
But I got no personal animosities.
I might find ‘em foolish, frown on your philosophies,
Or freak about your favorite fundie fantasies;
But I’m just tryin’ to call attention to our tendencies
For being stoopid and acting with hypocrisy.
As the Poetical Pundit, in times like these,
I wanna prod us toward our possibilities.
I might intrude a bit on your realities,
Make a rude remark ‘bout your idolatries;
Maybe stimulate your brain, give your thoughts a tease;
Challenge your beliefs, tweak your allegiancies;
I might trip you up with some absurdities,
Or question your critical capacities;
A myriad imagined indignities,
But don’t let it twist a knot in your BVD’s.

Callin’ out the scribes and the Pharisees….
Don’t worship at the feet of no celebrities,
Don’t kiss the ass of no authorities:
No Mafia mo’fo SOB’s
No Demo-can, Republi-crat, or other STD’s.
I got no educational pedigrees,
No NYU’s or MIT’s; no MBA’s, no PhD’s —
I’m down with the workers and the employees;
Keep it honest, keep it real, preserve our Liberties.
Political pundits can be a pompous breed,
Mostly mendacious morons of mediocrity.
Everybody has opinions, not everyone agrees —
I’m not gonna tell you what you must believe.
We’re all grown-ups here, so act like it, please.
You don’t s’port my rhymes, then just ignore ‘em, Jeeves.
If you’re offended by the exercise of my free speech
Don’t go crying like a baby to the Thought Police,
Just stop right here and put your mind at ease:
I’m not tryin’ to add to your unpleasantries.
From this Poetical Pundit to the eMpT.V.’s:
Don’t brand me with your loser idiOddities;
Don’t target me for your hostilities,
Don’t need no death threats on my family.
Send your hate-mail to the perp’s of these atrocities,
Send ‘em to the politicians drafting policies,
CC’d to the loonies making lunacies!
You’re free to have your say, but with civility —
Only ignorance and hatred are the enemies.
Now, if you’ve got an open mind take a look at these:
(I wrote this back in June 2006, months after I started visiting Daily Kos. I read the articles, would occasionally recommend some, then joined as a member, but never really began to comment til years later…only recently have I shared in written articles of my own. I left the poem open-ended as an intro to subsequent works I might share. More to come!)
