Charlie Kirk and Pastor Jack Hibbs

Pastor Jack Hibbs is pissed that Charlie Kirk is getting all the recognition while his bigotry is not getting any attention. Is that Christian? Jesus promoted modesty in personal conduct. Today, the execrable extremists of his fan club judge the success of their faith in clicks, likes, shares, and dollars — and by the number of eggs thrown at them.

I will let ‘Pastor Jack’ describe his angst:

“I’m embarrassed that Charlie got attacked for speaking truth when it should have been us. It should be the pastor that’s standing and exposing this absolute fallacy of the transgenderism cult. It is a cult, now. It’s an official cult. It’s a religion. It’s LBGTQ transgender lunacy that is a direct violation of everything that is normal, right, scientific, and culturally sustainable.”

Hibbs is talking about Charlie Kirk’s speech to the UC Davis chapter of his conservative student organization, “Turning Point USA.” The event led to some people getting rowdy — and a donnybrook between the protestors and some Proud Boys ensued. Both sides doused each other with pepper spray. Glass was broken, and the police arrested two protestors.

Who were the culprits? According to right-wing sources, somebody painted an Antifa symbol somewhere. That was enough for conservatives to blame a shadowy leftist cabal — no doubt paid for, in their imagination, by George Soros.

Kirk gave his speech as planned. This adherence to the schedule shows the protests were not that disruptive — they certainly did not approach the fatal mayhem of 1/6. However, Hibbs painted a grim picture after he self-flagellated, again, for not being the target of the protestors’ opprobrium

“Pastors, you and I should be embarrassed that Charlie Kirk stood in our place. He took the hit. He got eggs thrown at him, junk thrown at him, and he was mocked, ridiculed, and now on social media, he’s being scoured like a dirty pan.”

That was not enough, as Hibbs added:

“I’m ashamed that I’m not being attacked. Pastor, you and I should be ashamed because we should be the clarions of truth. We’re the ones that should be standing up and saying, ‘Hey, everybody, your kids are being raped by the public school system, raped by woke politicians, absolutely maligned and destroyed, led to the point of suicide because your kids are being lied to.’ God help us, pastors, if we cave into peer pressure and woke pastor pressure that tries to tell us that we shouldn’t speak up.”

One truism of conservative theological whining in America is that innumerable religious bigots spend immeasurable hours uttering countless words, protesting that they have lost the right to free speech.

Nobody stopped Hibbs from posting his video and saying what he said — despite the fact it was utterly despicable and yet another example of right-wing projection. He calls “transgenderism” a “cult.” What does he belong to?

I am not talking about the Christianity of Christ. I refer to Hibbs's bastardized philosophy that seeks out people to hate — while dunning his followers for dollars. On his website, he explains how the Bible requires his flock to tithe him 10% of their earnings .

As for his claim that “LBGTQ transgender lunacy” is a “direct violation of everything that is normal, right, scientific, and culturally sustainable,” can he be more hateful? Who is he to say what is normal or right? Catholics believe in transubstantiation — that during the Eucharist, the supplicant is eating and drinking the literal flesh and blood of Jesus. I do not think that is “normal” — but it is none of my business.

I do not know what he means by saying LGBTQ is not scientific. I do know, however, that LGBTQ is culturally sustainable. The varieties of sexual attraction and gender identity are as old as humans. And LGBTQ is responsible for a significant part of our culture. Dear God, gays painted the Last Supper and the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. (In fairness, the proof that Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo were gay is not absolute — but it is pretty compelling. And there are plenty of other examples.)

Hibbs is a nasty man with anti-social ideas, and I suspect his desire to be assaulted for his faith is more theoretical than actual. Perhaps he could suffer an egg thrown his way — but I doubt he would welcome the torture and death his likeminded antecedents visited on so many people. Or the martyrdom that people of true faith suffered.
