John in Ghana Assaulted, Stabbed Repeatedly, Arrested [1]

Yesterday John in Ghana was stabbed repeatedly while protecting his little boy from abduction. Perhaps unwisely, he did not report it to the police but the would-be abductor went to the police station and filed charges against him, claiming that he had been the aggressor.

John was ordered to surrender himself to the authorities at 10 am this morning, which is some hours ago, now.

This sort of thing has happened before. It is something of a racket in Ghana. Someone reports a supposed assault to the police, they arrest the accused and then demand ‘bail’ and a charge of ‘damages’ for the person who makes the accusation. The police and the accuser make money, the victim is released, and the incident is never heard from legally again.

I have not heard from John since yesterday. Under the circumstances I may never hear from him again.

The above photo was taken just hours before he was attacked.
