Jackson County Illinois, City of Carbondale

It was the summer of 1974. My little house was ringed with bushes. It usually always started raining there before the thunder and lightning. On one dark night, I stripped naked and ran out back of the house to dance -- when the storm really got raging. The notion appealed to me as a unique opportunity. Then it was like that storm went crazy, my body was numb and tingling, thunder lightning torrents of rain -- between flashes, hardly able to see -- I took a guess at where the back porch was. I found it with my hands. I wasn't even sure if it was my back porch --

but I was inside.
