Bring a beverage, grab a seat, get yer Irish on!

A gentle reminder of how we do things: 🐱🐶🐦

Do not troll the diary. If you hate pootie diaries, leave now. No harm, no foul.

Please do share pics of your fur kids! If you have health/behavior issues with your pets, feel free to bring it to the community.

Pooties are cats; Woozles are dogs. Birds... are birds! Peeps are people.

Whatever happens in the outer blog STAYS in the outer blog. If you’re having ā€œissuesā€ with another Kossack, keep it ā€œout there.ā€ This is a place to relax and play; please treat it accordingly.

There are some pics we never post: snakes, creepy crawlies, any and all photos that depict or encourage human cruelty toward animals. These are considered ā€œout of boundsā€ and will not be tolerated. If we alert you to it, please remember that we do have phobic peeps who react strongly to them. If you keep posting banned pics...well then...the Tigress will have to take matters in hand. Or, paw.

Well, mostly I am...

Well, tomorrow is St. Patrick’s Day, and while I am a genuine American Heinz 57, most of it is Irish. Besides, cream rises to the top, so there! In 2015, after we’d closed on this land, I contacted the Irish Heritage Council (in Kilkenny!) to get the name of my property, which translates to ā€œtown/townstead/homestead on the hillā€ or Bhaile an chnoic,* and then Anglicised to Ballinknock. There were other variations, but I settled on Ballinknock.

I got my … motto? something else? translated to Irish, but I’ve no idea how to speak it:

'AnƔlaim ar an dtalamh seo agus anƔlann an talamh seo ionam-sa'.

ā€œI breathe in this land, and this land breathes in me.ā€

I might not be able to say it, but it’s how I feel about my hill. *(cnoc)

So! Erin Go Bragh, and let’s have at it!

I wouldn’t know how to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day without limericks:

The limerick packs laughs anatomical

Into space that is quite economical.

But the good ones I've seen

So seldom are clean

And the clean ones so seldom are comical.[4] thank you, wikipedia!

Well, they needn’t all be naughty! We can haz silly in the same framework. Let’s see...

I’m terribly Irish, I’m told.

It might be the reason I’m bold.

I master my temper

with barely a whimper …

and some verbal nuggets are gold!

An’ there ye have it! Doan’t lie — ye’re wishing ye had some Irish for yerself, now, aren’t ye?! Ye might — those rascals got around…!

ā€œI’m not sure I care for this hat —

The shamrock might look better flat.

This milliner’s antic

is hardly romantic -

I wish I could hiss like a cat!ā€

ā€œThough he acts like a guard he is not,

so we happily played with his pot!

It looked chock-filled with gold,

and he mustn’t be told -

we removed much of it from the spot!ā€

For one day in March, wearing green

is tradition, for which we are keen.

Though it’s not really clear

why we’ve included beer,

green corned beef ought never be seen!

A celebratory young chappy

said the hat and the beard made him happy.

ā€Because this is the way

to ā€œdoā€ St. Paddy’s Day —

wearing green in a manner quite snappy!ā€

ā€œI don’t mind her tappity toes,

I’d follow wherever she goes.

But this green chiffon tutu

is far too much fru-fru -

I’d rather a hat, heaven knows!ā€

A pot of gold, rainbow, and cloud

made up a quite magical crowd.

On a headband of green

’twas a sight to be seen,

And the woozle felt Irish and proud!

This conure thought shamrocks were keen

and made a great St. Patrick’s scene.

So as if they were clover

she spread them all over —

why, the whole place was ā€œWearin’ the Greenā€!

A funny knit hat — what a snooze!

Wearing green on this day isn’t news.

Though I act quite blasƩ

while some folks mark the day —

when it’s over, I might have the blues!

ā€œI dances on shamrocks all day.

(They don’t seem to get in the way).

Whether reels or a jig,

don’t me happy get BIG

when I lets out me Irish to play!ā€

Everyone is Irish on St. Patrick’s Day!

Well, that’s it for this time, Peeps — I hope you had fun! Please stay safe and be well.

And now for something completely different…
