Protect Education Rally, Charleston, SC March 13, 2023

Change is not achieved by banging on a keyboard. As SC faces the terminal stage of right wing takeover, Lowcountry Up is Good, PAC, Inc. acts with allied groups to see that some parts of SC remain home to government and culture which accepts diversity, acts with mercy and promotes social justice. Join Students Protecting Education

Students across SC are invited to join the new Charleston area chapter of Students for Education. Established on March 13, local students are now training to confront right wing efforts to change what our schools teach, networking with hundreds of other students in a rapidly growing network to keep schools diverse, accepting and free. Century Forward Effort at N. Chas. City Council

We’ll present the N. Charleston City Council with information on Century Forward, City of New Charleston, our partnership effort to use transit, affordable housing, and higher wages to help build new within the exiting city, bringing higher quality of life to its current residents. We’ll be speaking during the public comment period. If you wish to participate in the public comment, you must sig up in person between 3:45 and 4:30 pm at N. Charleston City Hall, Clerk of Councils office. You can watch online. CARTA #13 Bus route, return bus service after meeting may not be functional.

Fight for Our Schools Boycott Launch

In front of Market Hall, Old Charleston. We’ll announce our first economic action (boycott) against one of the political donors connected to the right wing attempt to take over the Charleston County School District, then walk to the location of the tourism oriented business to deliver our boycott notice. Participation in this unpermitted, but legal demonstration is limited to 20 people. It will be live streamed. CARTA #20 and DASH #211 Bus lines.

Palm Sunday, April 2, 9:30 am to 11:45 am

Informational Picket of Seacoast Church

Working within the public right of way adjacent to church property along Long Point and Whipple Roads in Mt. Pleasant, we’ll use printed literature and large signs with QR codes to solicit information from those attending Sunday worship about the alleged political activity conducted at Seacoast which may have contributed to the election of 5 right wing members to the Charleston County School Board. We do not know, currently, if these allegations are true. We will not go on church property or impede access to the church. You must apply and must sign a written agreement to participate. Participation is limited to 20 people in sound mental and physical health. Any person not signed up to participate by written agreement with our organization will have to deal with the police and any persons representing Seacoast on their own, without our support. No bus service near this location. Read our detailed letter noticing the Town of Mount Pleasant Police Department regarding our plans for this action
