Covid Again

I don’t mean I caught for the second time, just writing about it again. We are three years into Covid, and the changes it has made worldwide are huge. Globally, as of 6:21pm CET, 7 March 2023, there have been 759,408,703 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 6,866,434 deaths, reported to WHO. Supply chains have been disrupted, communication among people has been changed and compromised, vaccine refusal has divided the country, Zoom is a thing, and schools and workplaces have undergone upheavals.

Mrs side pocket and I followed all the proper procedures, vaccinations, masks, distancing, etc., and we still got covid. And now after Paxlovid and daily recommended medicines, we are two weeks into it, still ill, and testing positive. The top trending diary is: I relaxed on COVID defense. Now my wife is in the hospital because of me. I read it, plus all the comments. The upshot seems to be that covid can be caught in hundreds of ways, and people who follow all the rules and advice still contract it. Y’all be careful.

I don’t have anything else. I use the New York Times Mini Crossword, which is a timed puzzle, to gauge my covid-influenced mental state. I can tell I’m slowing down. So this is an open thread, and I’ll try to keep up as best I can.
