Although I don't know who lives here now, a childhood friend of mine lived here back in the early sixties. Jackson Street, Quincy, CA.
By my weather log snow has been coming down steady the past three days, sometimes heavy, most of the time lightly, including into today. I took a walk downtown this morning (March 7, 2023) to get a haircut and go to the library. Photos of the jaunt after the boiler plate.
The Daily Bucket is a nature refuge. We amicably discuss animals, weather, climate, soil, plants, waters and note life’s patterns. We invite you to note what you are seeing around you in your own part of the world, and to share your observations in the comments below. Each note is a record that we can refer to in the future as we try to understand the phenological patterns that are quietly unwinding around us. I can’t recall this much steady snow fall and accumulation since I was a kid growing up here.
When I walk from here I have to stay out in the plowed street because there’s a lot of sidewalk that never gets cleared.
This gives a good idea of how deep the plow berms get.
This gives a good idea of how deep the snow has been building up in some spots.
The historic Plumas County courthouse.
Looking east down Main Street (also Highway 70), downtown. My photo vantage spot for this was the same as for the courthouse, just turned around 180 degrees.
An old shed/garage building in town. I liked the old-timey feel of this view.
A non-native tree, a spruce I think. It’s been in this spot for more than the sixty-three years since I first came to live in Quincy.
I took this photo because I knew I had a summertime photo of this very spot.
From August 2020.
The only birds I was able to get photos of on my walk.
Acorn Woodpecker
Now it’s your turn. What’s up in your world, nature-wise? Let us know in the comments and as always please include your location, and photos if you got ‘em!
